A sampling of some Basic Principles of Rocky Mtn. Futurevisions

Rocky Mountain Futurevisions is not only an ever-expanding collection of visual images, but an exploration and growth of futurist ideas as well. The visuals are merely roadmaps pointing toward a world governed by “futurian thought.”

The Futurian and Daily Upgrade

The word “futurian” is the Futurevisions Project term for an evolved human of the future. A person not bound by harmful and destructive attitudes like greed, hatred, bigotry, or elitism. One of the challenges that we set forth to you is to spend some time thinking about the “futurian you” or the kind of person you can imagine being if you lived in the evolved world of the future. Imagine as fully as possible yourself as an evolved person. What would you look like and why? What would your beliefs and therefore your behaviors be like? The challenge is to apply a daily effort at being as much like that person as possible while living in the now. Use as much creativity to become closer to that ideal version of yourself and demonstrate outwardly a better way as much as possible. If we can all upgrade ourselves from day to day and improve ourselves even by just a measure, then we have set in motion a more positive upward spiral. It takes energy to resist the daily gravity of limited thinking and apathy, but that is where we can each make a difference individually.

Inclusive thought versus Exclusivism

One of the most corrosive aspects of human thought is what we call “exclusivism.” A person, while under the influence of this thought pattern, seeks out and focuses on the differences between him/herself and others. This mode of thinking is promoted by the popular media in all forms. As long as we identify ourselves within the most limiting of criteria; such as ethnicity, religion, sex, nationality and the like, we will have a great deal of difficulty uniting for a common prosperous future. Again, the changes that will allow us to set the stage for the world envisioned by Rocky Mountain Futurevisions must take place within the mass of individuals. We must change ourselves before we are ready to accept change on a level that is societal or worldwide in nature. Seek daily to affirm the commonalities between yourself and others, no matter how distant they may seem. Each of us is sharing a ride on this planetary spaceship. Each of us wants what we believe to be the best for us. If we can edge closer to common ground, we can begin to show a better way to each other and to the generation to follow.

Cause, Effect, and Conscious Choice

In order to begin an upward evolution and move toward the future we need to acknowledge the effect we have on the events surrounding our lives. The effects when recognized can almost seem metaphysical in nature, but rest assured, they are very practical. This is no truer than in the activity of raising a child. The child is an information sponge and receives data from not only what it sees, but what it hears, feels, smells, and senses in ways that are not readily apparent to a tired parent. This is the space of time where mistakes can happen. Children can grow into youths with habits that seem appalling to the parents, but are easily traced by onlookers straight to that self-same parental source. We have a powerful and unknown effect on every person we come in contact with. Think back on events that have changed who you are and what you believe. Many of these events have been likely forgotten by the other person involved, but this does not diminish their importance to you. There are those out there that are in many ways the person they are because of a seemingly small effect you have had on them as well. Seek to recognize the causes and effects i the world around you, and then make a very conscious choice to create as much of a positive effect where you can. The simplest place to begin is to try to convey a feeling of support and peace with a facial gesture to strangers throughout the day. Smiling is so commonly underrated, but no less powerful. You can reap what you sow.
