Question #7
"Given no limitations in terms of time, cost, or current technological capabilities - What technology or invention do you feel could have the greatest impact on positive human development?"
SG:
Between a time machine and a transporter, I'd choose a transporter. Any technology though can be used for good and bad, like splitting an atom. Can be used for cheap electric power or for great destruction.
A safe and stable particle transporter would have the greatest impact on our lives in every way. I don't know if I feel like going into all the aspects but your mind could imagine. Basically you could go anywhere you wanted to almost instantly. It may even open a door to deep space travel.
Here's an invention that could or would have great positive impact. If a fetus could be developed outside a mothers womb to full term with no complications. Here are the dilemmas, would abortion still make sense? Would vanity lead many women to do this? What if a women had an unwanted pregnancy, she had the fetus removed but not aborted. It develops and is adopted. Does the biological mother still have rights to the baby. List goes on. Would the abortion debate go away if there were no more abortions. Something to think about.
A:
Homework that displays on a screen, we talk to the screen to give our answers.
JF:
Cheap renewable energy and improved computing on a nano scale level. This must be used in conjunction with world unification, which applies science and technology for the benefit of all people and the reclamation of the environment.
PP:
The development of cost-efficient alternative fuel
sources.
SS:
Nuclear fusion.
DB:
A stratospheric ion/ ozone generation technology which could break down CO2 into carbon and oxygen as well as neutralize methane and other green house gases.
AU:
I believe this is a combination of elements; but I think that it’s not technology as much as it is world-wide political reforms to help eliminate poverty, increase funding for organic farming development and alternative energy sources.
NS:
Transhumanist technologies.
1. We safely and ethically expand human intelligence via bioengineering and/or nanotechnology. This puts us on a path to unlocking discoveries we can only dream about now.
2. We find a way to upload our consciousnesses to artificial bodies. When old age wears out our real bodies, we have a place to go. Immortality.
MG:
People starting to love each other more. Respecting each other. Being non-judgmental. Understanding that to give is to receive. Working from the viewpoint of a win-win in business. Keeping a good sense of integrity. Really like the answer to the question of what current technology has the greatest potential for human change. Everyone knows in their heart what is correct, they just need to follow it and not let their egos get the best of them. I read once that ego means edging God out, and I like that little definition.
